Marantz Introduces New 8K-Ready AV Receivers

Marantz Introduces New 8K-Ready AV Receivers
The 2020 SR-Series AV Receivers Pair State-of-the-Art Home Theater Specifications with
Marantz’s Signature Musicality
VISTA, Calif. (July 7, 2020)—Marantz®, the number one Hi-Fi brand in the world1
, today
announced the latest additions to its SR-Series AV receivers, the SR5015, SR6015, SR7015,
and SR8015. Designed to deliver impactful and nuanced home cinema and listening
experiences, the 8K-ready AV receiver line offers the most musical sound from any source,
including home theater, vinyl and streaming media. Like all Marantz products, the 2020 SRSeries AVRs are extensively tuned by world-renowned acousticians at state-of-the-art facilities,
producing Marantz’s unique audiophile-quality sound. This, paired with the AV industry’s latest
array of technologies, enables more immersion, visual beauty and detailed power than ever
“The new 2020 SR-Series AV receivers represent the next major step forward in home theater,
not just for Marantz, but the entire home entertainment industry,” said Jake Mendel, global
brand manager for Marantz. “Marantz fans will be some of the first to experience new levels of
incredibly sharp image quality, remarkably fast gaming and immersive surround sound. But
more importantly, superior Marantz HDAM-SA3 amplification based on decades of extensive
tuning transports the listener ever closer to their music.”
High-Performance Amplification & Multichannel Home Theater
Prioritizing rich, powerful audio, the 2020 SR-Series feature high-current discrete power
amplifiers on all channels to deliver Marantz’s signature power output. Leveraging the
company’s proprietary Hyper Dynamic Amplification Module (HDAM) circuitry, the AVRs provide
optimal fidelity and maximum dynamic range of high-resolution files for stellar sound quality.
With low impedance driver capability, the SR-Series offers operational stability with a wide
range of speakers providing the clarity and balance users have come to expect from Marantz.
For advanced multi-channel home theater applications, the flagship SR8015 supports DTS:X
Pro®, which will allow users to enjoy up to 13 channels of DTS:X decoding with speaker
configurations such as 7.2.6 or 9.2.4. Listeners can also enjoy the latest in IMAX Enhanced
films in 7.2.6 or 9.2.4 speaker configurations thanks to newly adopted 13.2 channel processing
capabilities with external amplification. The DTS:X Pro feature will be delivered via firmware
update later this year.
In addition to DTS:X Pro, the 2020 SR-Series feature several other 3D audio formats, including
Dolby Atmos®, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X®, DTS Virtual:X™,
IMAX® Enhanced and Auro-3D® out-of-box.
2 The latest height virtualization technologies
provide immersive audio without height channels, creating virtual height effects in a 7.1, 5.1 or
2.1 speaker arrangement.
If listeners want to tap into separate power sources, the latest Marantz SR Series now support
“Pre-Amplifier” mode on the SR6015, SR7015 and SR8015 models. Pre-Amplifier mode
provides a clear signal path and more tolerance in clipping levels by disconnecting internal
amplifiers when the receiver is used as an AV processor and all speakers are powered by
external amplifiers.

Next-Gen HDMI Technologies
The new Marantz SR-Series AV receivers take advantage of the latest HDMI technologies. Enjoy
movies and shows with stunning picture quality thanks to a dedicated “8K” HDMI input enabling
8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video pass-through, new HDR format support including HDR10+ and
Dynamic HDR, and a new HDMI feature called Quick Media Switching (QMS), which allows a
source to instantly switch frame rate to eliminate screen blackout. For exceptional color, clarity
and contrast the latest SR Series models still support HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and
Dolby Vision, as well as 4:4:4 Pure Color subsampling and BT.2020 pass-through.
Several new features give gamers an edge, including razor sharp motion clarity with 4K/120Hz
pass through and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to reduce frame tearing and improve overall
precision. Get a jump on the competition with Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Quick Frame
Transport (QFT), each designed to reduce lag and improve stats. See the enemy before they see
you with stunning 8K picture quality.
The Marantz SR-Series can also upscale existing HD and 4K content to 8K3 so more people can
experience the power of 8K resolution. They also continue to support eARC (Enhanced Audio
Return Channel), which allows lossless and object-based audio transmission like DTS:X and
Dolby Atmos from TV apps or connected devices using a single HDMI cable.
HEOS Built-in, Roon Tested & Hi-Res Support
HEOS Built-in allows for unlimited and unrestrained listening anywhere in the home. The 2020
SR-Series can decode up to 24-bit/192-kHz ALAC, FLAC and WAV lossless files as well as DSD
2.8MHz and 5.6MHz tracks, empowering users to experience high quality content from services
like Spotify, Amazon Music HD, TIDAL, TuneIn Internet Radio and more. Users can also play
songs stored on smart devices or personal media servers. Pair HEOS Built-in AVRs, including
the Marantz SR-Series, with other HEOS Built-in products or speakers for a seamless listening
Marantz SR-Series AVRs are Roon Tested certified so users can get more out of their music
libraries through the advanced Roon music interface on their PCs and smart devices. Marantz
Roon Tested AVRs can be found and setup easily by Roon via AirPlay 2 or hardwired into a Roon
Core device. Each receiver features a front-panel USB port that offers convenient audio playback
of MP3 and high-resolution audio formats (WAV, FLAC, ALAC and DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz files).
Vinyl lovers can easily connect their turntable to the SR-Series’ phono input and enjoy the raw
purity of LP records. All models feature an advanced phono stage with HDAM, which
outperforms op-amp solutions, delivering the clarity and detail discerning listeners expect from
Audyssey Room Calibration
Listeners can optimize their experience with Audyssey MultEQ XT on the SR5015 and MultEQ
XT32 on the SR6015, SR7015 and SR8015 models, providing seamless setup for any room.
With the supplied measurement microphone, Audyssey analyzes each speaker's output
(including subwoofers) at up to eight measurement locations and generates precision digital
filters to optimize each channel for the correct frequency and time domain response. Audyssey
Dynamic Volume also smooths out disruptive jumps in volume (such as TV commercials), letting
listeners enjoy lower output levels while still enjoying clear dialogue and overall performance.
The Audyssey Dynamic EQ provides full-range clarity at any listening level.
Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is adding Low Frequency Containment using advanced psychoacoustic
algorithms to deliver more full-range balance, including deep bass, without disturbing neighbors
or people in other rooms of the home. Audyssey Sub EQ HT provides individual DSP tailoring of
each subwoofer in a dual subwoofer setup for deeper bass with improved definition. Plus, the
3 To compatible 8K-ready TVs
optional Audyssey MultEQ Editor app available for purchase at the app store, users can view
and adjust settings for detailed tuning.
New to Marantz, Dual Speaker Preset Memory enables users to toggle between two calibrated
speaker configurations, which are stored natively in the AVR and can be switched on the fly.
This ensures the listener can dictate where the sweet spot is for a variety of listening situations,
adding ease and flexibility for the overall listening experience.
Advanced Custom Installation Support
Designed with custom integrators in mind, the new SR-Series AVRs boast the latest remote
monitoring and management capabilities via Domotz Pro and OvrC, as well as RS232C and IP
control capabilities. Web User Interface is also supported providing access to the AV receivers’
setup menu remotely or from a computer on the same network. These programs empower
integrators to monitor the status of connected products and troubleshoot remotely from a
separate location or on-the-go.
The 2020 SR-Series continues to feature HDMI Multiple Input Assign, which allows users to
listen to multiple audio sources while maintaining the same video content on-screen. All Zone
Stereo Mode—a.k.a. Party Mode— is storable on “Smart Select,” so both Main Zone and Zone
2 will initiate music playback in sync by simply pressing the “Smart Select” button on the remote,
app or third-party controllers. The new series also features HDMI Auto Input Rename, which
automatically renames HDMI inputs to the source devices, including “PS5” and “Apple TV,”
reducing wasted time naming inputs.

ASUS Republic of Gamers Launches Zephyrus Duo 15

ASUS Republic of Gamers Launches Zephyrus Duo 15

Ultraslim gaming laptop features integrated secondary 14.1" full-width touchscreen for accelerated multitasking, gaming, content creation, and more
Fremont, CA, (June 22, 2020) — ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today launched the groundbreaking ROG Zephyrus Duo 15. The laptop has two integrated displays that fits in an ultraslim form factor, bringing a new dimension of versatility to premium gaming laptops without having to sacrifice any of the high-powered performance that defines ROG. It’s powerfully equipped with an innovative cooling system to optimize performance and has the portability to create, play, and stay productive anywhere you go.

ROG ScreenPad Plus unlocks endless possibilities
The 14.1-inch panel in ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is the largest second display ever put in a production gaming laptop. As the laptop opens, the ROG ScreenPad Plus tilts up at a 13° angle for comfortable viewing and touchscreen interaction. The custom hinge staggers the rise of the display to prevent damage and incorporates curved sliders that delay the deployment of the secondary screen. The IPS panel stretches wide viewing angles across the full width of the body, and its 3840 x 1100 resolution boasts a high pixel density that delivers rich details, crisp text, and flowing lines at a smooth 60 Hz refresh rate.

ScreenPad Plus can be used to turn the primary display into a more immersive medium for gaming, streaming, and content creation. Users can get a more expansive view of their game, movie, or other media, while using the secondary screen to keep an eye on emails, social media, and more. The touchscreen also supports the ASUS Pen active stylus that makes scribbling and sketching seamless.

ROG is working with game developers like Techland to optimize AAA games like Dying Light 2, which artfully moves co-op chats to ScreenPad Plus for easy viewing, and adds touchscreen controls for easy switching between inventory items and quests. Gamer's can see real-time stats, build recommendations, and more — all to amplify the advantages that the multi-screen design offers.

The Task Group feature lets users take snapshots of app arrangements across both screens, and then open those apps instantly with a tap of its associated icon. ROG Armoury Crate has a built-in resource monitor that allows users to track vital stats like CPU and GPU frequencies at a glance. And streamers can run their broadcasts more easily with an interface optimized for the secondary screen thanks to Xsplit Gamecaster.

AAS Plus amplifies airflow
With AAS Plus, tilting the touchscreen at an angle opens a larger 28.5 mm air intake, and allows the fans to draw in cooler air from above the laptop instead of warmer air from beneath it. This massive air intake increases airflow by up to 30% over previous AAS implementations, improving performance and putting less strain on the internal cooling system. Decreased need for heat dissipation means that noise levels can be kept below 46 dB(A) in Turbo mode, and 43 dB(A) in Performance mode.

Go hi-res or hi-speed
Users can choose between an ultrafast 300 Hz / 3 ms gaming panel or a high-resolution 4K UHD display.
The 4K UHD display offers incredible visuals at the highest fidelity detail. Both of these displays are factory calibrated and PANTONE® Validated to guarantee color accuracy, but this particular panel also covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color space. The wide gamut and accurate colors let gamers who are also creators produce work at a professional level.

Both primary display options use NVIDIA® G-SYNC® technology to enable a uniquely engaging experience. G-SYNC synchronizes the refresh rate with the frame rate to eliminate tearing, minimize stuttering, and reduce input lag. A GPU switch exclusive to ROG lets users toggle between G-SYNC and Optimus modes depending on whether they want smoother gaming or longer battery life, reinforcing this laptop’s innate duality.

Super-powered speed
Up to NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 SUPER makes everything fast and fluid. The GPU can hit peak clock speeds as high as 1330 MHz in Turbo mode.
The revolutionary Turing architecture behind the GeForce RTX series enables incredible visual realism and accelerate workloads like image processing, 3D modeling, and deep learning.

Boosted productivity
Up to an 8-core 10th Generation Intel® Core i9 CPU hits speeds as high as 5.3 GHz on a single core, and can engage up to 16 parallel threads with Hyper-Threading technology to power through heavy duty tasks.

With up to 48 GB of combined onboard and SO-DIMM memory, Zephyrus Duo 15 is ready for multitasking mastery across multiple displays. Its DDR4-3200 RAM outpaces the old 2666 MHz standard, improving system speed and responsiveness.

Two nimble NVM Express® PCIe® x4 SSDs run in RAID 0 to provide plenty of high-speed storage. With up to 2 TB of capacity, gamers and creators can take their entire game library and professional portfolio wherever they go.

USB Type-C™ (USB-C™) with Thunderbolt 3 offers versatile connectivity for a wide range of powerful accompaniments. With peak theoretical interface bandwidth of up to 40 Gbps – 4X the speed of USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard – Thunderbolt 3 can balance multiple performance-hungry devices and drive external displays up to 8K resolution.

Revolutionary cooling
The CPU of Zephyrus Duo 15 is coated with Thermal Grizzly’s liquid metal compound instead of standard thermal paste. The cooling module strategically snakes five heat pipes to draw degrees from the CPU, GPU, and surrounding power circuitry. Dual n-Blade fans circulate air with superslim blades made of a special liquid-crystal polymer that’s strong enough to withstand high spin speeds. A mesh cover guards the fans against anything that pokes into the AAS vent.

Zephyrus Duo 15 has multiple modes tuned for different needs. Silent mode sacrifices a touch of speed to keep acoustics low. Performance mode offers the horsepower needed for high gaming frame rates without too much noise. Turbo mode dials the CPU up to full power and reaches higher speeds with a louder fan profile.

Available through the ROG Armoury Crate utility, Scenario Profiles lets users link individual games and programs to specific operating modes, lighting effects, and other settings.

Accuracy, comfort, and durability are key
To keep hands away from the warmest parts of the machine and create more space for ScreenPad Plus, the keyboard is shifted forward. The design lets wrists sit on the table, like with a desktop keyboard, and there's a detachable palm rest to improve user comfort.

A handful of keyboard enhancements upgrade the input area below the touchscreen. The separated groups of function keys are easier to intuitively identify. Dedicated hotkeys put volume and microphone mute within easy reach. ROG Overstroke technology lifts the actuation point of the underlying switches for a more responsive experience and multi-key inputs are more accurate. The touchpad tucked neatly to the right of the keys lights up a digital numeric keypad with the press of a button.

Per-key RGB is great for highlighting critical commands and time-saving shortcuts. It can be used to streamline workflows or just coordinate RGB lighting across an ecosystem of Aura Sync peripheral devices.

Stay active anywhere with portable power
Stay productive with Zephyrus Duo’s high-capacity 90 Wh battery. The laptop can also charge via USB Power Delivery, so users can take care of lighter work with a 65 W USB-C adapter that’s much smaller than the standard unit required for full performance. If the battery runs low and there's no free socket available, users can buy time by charging from a compatible USB power pack.

The ins and outs of on-the-go gaming
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with Thunderbolt 3 supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, and can be used to connect a G-SYNC desktop monitor. There’s also an HDMI 2.0b output capable of driving a 60 Hz signal for 4K UHD monitors and TVs. Three Type-A USB ports accommodate additional peripherals, including a mouse, gamepad, and VR tracking.

Zephyrus Duo 15 features superfast WiFi 6 (802.11ax). It also reduces latency and expands upstream capacity, which provides more bandwidth for livestreaming.

Two audio jacks make it easier to connect a standalone microphone and headset for streaming or voice chat, and a premium ESS Sabre DAC elevates the experience for gamers with high-end headphones. The hi-fi DAC reduces noise and distortion, enabling clearer audio with wider dynamic range. Combined with virtual 7.1-channel surround sound, spatial immersion in games and virtual reality is deeper. Hi-Res Audio certification guarantees full-quality audio and other media, providing rich and detailed sound.

ASUS Republic of Gamers ROG Maximus XII Apex Hits 7.7 GHz on 10 Cores and Overclocks Memory to 6666 MHz
ROG reaches highest Intel Core speed, and overclockers break six world records
Fremont, CA (June 12, 2020) — ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced that overclockers have used the latest ROG Maximus XII Apex powerhouse motherboard to break a slew of world records and secure a raft of global first place scores.

Marking a new performance milestone, overclockers took the Intel® Core i9-10900K all the way up to 7.7 GHz frequencies on all 10 of its cores. Because of the ongoing global situation, ASUS was unable to host its traditional overclocking gathering this year, so instead a smaller session took place at the ASUS headquarters in Taiwan — with local overclockers Jon ‘Elmore’ Sandström and Pieter ‘Massman’ Plaisier working alongside internal ASUS experts. Using a liquid-helium setup, the group managed to shatter the Intel Core architecture frequency record, the single-core Geekbench 4 record, and took global first-place positions in 10-core categories for Geekbench 3, Cinebench R15, and wPrime 32M.

Throughout the testing period, ASUS also worked with pros both near and far who flexed their prowess in a variety of benchmarks. Overclocker ‘bianbao’ leveraged the combined power of G.Skill and Intel to hit a new DDR4-memory-overclocking-frequency record of 6666 MHz. Intel’s edge in gaming and graphical performance were shown off by both ‘rsannino’ and ‘Rauf’ who broke 3DMark records: ‘rsannino’ took the 3DMark06 overall world record, and ‘Rauf’ smashed the single-GPU score for version 11. Showing the breadth of the platform, ‘keeph8n’ raked in a few records including Geekbench 4, Cinebench 2003 and GPUPI 3.2 100M. By far, the most accolades went to ‘safedisk’: four world records and seven global first place scores, including Cinebench R15, both HWBot x265 benchmarks, both wPrime scores, and both Super Pi records.
All of the records are recorded for reference below.
