With building your own computer there are many things you
are going to need. The most important parts are a CPU, motherboard, cooler, and
if you're wanting to play games a GPU. Another important part is your Power
Supply unit. You will need to take into consideration how many watts you are
going to need this unit to supply, the size of the unit, and if it's going to
have the connections you are going to need for your system. Today I will be
reviewing the ToughPower GF2 ARGB 750W PSU from
Thermaltake. MSRP is a price of $159.99.

The box has a nice black main color with a gray support
making the box pleasing to look at and professional. On the box it has
multiple-colored pictures of the PSU along with some features that come with
the unit such as an ARGB control button and their Riing Duo 14 RGB fan
consisting of 2 LED rings and 18 ARGB LEDs. Inside the box is the manual and
warranty information in little booklets, the power supply, and a bag that
houses the various cables for the unit. The power supply was kept safe in a
custom molded black Styrofoam with a fabric wrap on the unit. Materials used in the construction was mostly
metal, with a little plastic. Quality of
materials used, as well as the fit and finish, was very good.
I liked the design of the Thermaltake ToughPower GF2 ARGB
750W. The power supply is made with a
sturdy metal chassis. The unit is fully modular, coming with a 24-pin, four
8-pin, and four 6-pin modular cables to power all the equipment you may need.
Designed to be DC to DC, zero cable platform for better heat dissipation and
better output power quality. The power supply is 80-plus gold certified and has
a 10-year warranty.
The power supply has a couple great features such as ARGB
side panels, an RGB fan, and a smart zero fan switch. The ARGB side panels are
definitely a nice addition when you're going for a colorful pc build. The same
goes with the RGB fan with the power supply unit, with both of these being
controlled by two buttons on the back of the power supply. For those who don't
want the RGB to be on all the time with the system it does come with a setting
with the lights off. This power supply’s RGB is compatible with ASUS Aura, MSI
Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and AsrockPolychrome software.
The second cool feature of the power supply is the Smart
Zero Fan switch. This switch turns on or off the Smart Zero Fan which helps the
fan turn on only when you have power usage of 30% of total power or more.
Limiting the fan and thus helping your system stay silent for longer. I find
this feature nice to have because it helps let us know when the supply draws a
certain amount of power at a time.
Installing the power supply was simple. The features worked as advertised. With a system featured and loaded with RGB’s,
it was cool to see it in the power supply as well. And of course the ability to have the RGB’s
on or off is a nice touch. The smart
zero fan is a welcomed feature that also worked well.
In conclusion the Thermaltake
Toughpower GF2 ARGB 750W is a great power supply if you are going for an
RGB build. The smart fan feature is a nice addition to help you keep your
system quiet. In the end due to the nice features and build quality, I will
give the Toughpower GF2 ARGB 750W our Highly Recommended award. If you’re doing a computer build that would
be satisfied with your power needs, the Thermaltake Toughpower GF2 ARGB 750W deserver
to be on your short list. For more info
