D-Link Leads Home Wireless Industry with Comprehensive IPv6-Ready Products and Resources

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. – May 12, 2011 – Continuing to provide home networking consumers with leading connectivity products and solutions, D-Link today announced it offers one of the industry’s largest portfolios of consumer products shipping with “IPv6 Ready Phase II” certification. And to underscore its commitment and support of the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, D-Link today unveiled “IPv6 Readiness” at http://www.dlink.com/ipv6, a new website dedicated to help educate and ensure consumers and small business users are IPv6 ready.

Support for IPv6 is critical for ongoing seamless interoperability with all future websites and home networking technologies and devices. IPv6 is a new version of the Internet Protocol designed to succeed Internet IPv4, which is projected to exhaust all available IP addresses by the end of this year. In addition to providing enough addresses so every device today and in the future has a unique address, IPv6 offers a wide range of improvements, including significant speed and security enhancements.

“By leading the industry in IPv6 compliant devices, features, performance, and security, D-Link is making it easy for individuals, business owners and ISPs to guarantee uninterrupted Internet access,” said AJ Wang, chief technology officer, D-Link North America. “Based on our work with Service Providers, consumers should demand that their network routers and devices support IPv6 today.”

Moving Forward with a D-Link IPv6-Ready Network

Foreseeing the future of connectivity needs, D-Link is the first networking company to offer a range of IPv6-compliant routers, access points and powerline communication devices. D-Link is also

deploying products and conducting field test trials with many leading phone and cable service providers worldwide, as IPv6 readiness is a critical component of future internet service performance, security and overall reliability.

Designed to help people understand the upcoming IPv6 transition, D-Link’s new IPv6-dedicated site addresses common questions, outlines the benefits of the new Internet Protocol and identifies current IPv6-ready D-Link products. Integrating an IPv6-certified product offers a host of benefits and enables consumers to future-proof their home wireless networks as Internet Service Providers (ISPs) upgrade their offerings. Highlights include:

· Automatically IPv6 Ready: Your network automatically covers both IPv4 and IPv6 standards to support legacy products – an existing laptop or set-top box – as well as new devices with an IPv6 address, ranging from a Smartphone to an eReader.

· Enhanced Network Security: Plug in an IPv6-enabled D-Link® router and cutting-edge security is automatically turned on, including IPv6 firewalls to protect unique addresses at each host within a network.

· Increased Network Speeds and Accessibility: As websites start to offer content over IPv6 and ISPs deploy IPv6 service, an IPv6-compliant router offers faster connection speeds and provides access to websites and applications that have transitioned. With its superior design, IPv6 has integrated Quality of Service, so traffic is classified by voice, video and data, and transported accordingly, resulting in faster network speeds.

· Simplified Network Management: Under the IPv6 protocol, communication between each client on a network is simplified without the need to maintain address schemes or split up the limited number of IPv4 addresses; now all fixed and mobile devices including cell phones can be transported on a single common network.

· Continued Connectivity to the Web: IPv6-ready routers ensure continued support and connectivity to the Internet, even after the IPv6 address scheme transitions.

· IPv4 Communication with IPv6: Each ISP will handle communication between IPv4 and IPv6 networks in their own manner. However, D-Link’s IPv6-certified routers will seamlessly support each communication method without any hassle to home network users.

· Industry’s First Full IPv6 Product Portfolio: Current D-Link products with IPv6 support include:

o Routers: DIR-300 B1 Wireless 150, DIR-600 A1 Wireless N 150 Home Router, DIR-601 A1 Wireless N 150, DIR-615 C1/C2 Wireless N Router, DIR-615 E1/E2/E3/E4 Wireless N Router, DIR-652 A1 Gigabit Home Router, DIR-655 B1 Xtreme N® Gigabit Router, DIR-825 B1 Xtreme NDual Band Gigabit Router, EBR-2310 C1 Ethernet Router, DIR-632 A1 Wireless N 8-Port Router, DIR-815 A1 Wireless N Dual Band Router

o Access Points: DAP-1350 Wireless N Pocket Router/Access Point, DAP-1360 Wireless N Access Point

o Powerline Devices: DHP-W306AV PowerLine AV Wireless N Extender, DHP-1320 A1 Wireless N PowerLine Router

World IPv6 Day and D-Link IPv6 Readiness (http://ipv6.dlink.com)

To help support a smooth IPv6 transition, D-Link is participating in World IPv6 Day on June 8, 2011, where several major Web providers and other industry players will offer content over IPv6 for a 24-hour “test flight.” Throughout the event, D-Link will monitor activities to discover and address any potential issues, as well as raise awareness of the need for IPv6 readiness. The goal is to motivate organizations across the industry – ISPs, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure a successful transition.
